So here are the next two films in the "Blk-Art, History & Culture" collaboration with the Washington Park Library. I know, I know-I said A Man Named Pearl would be first, but I changed my mind. With this ever important Presidential election coming up, I thought showing Sisters of Selma first (on October 24th) would be smarter. The Traveling exhibition Sisters of Freedom will be on exhibit for one day only during the screening of Sisters of Selma. Sisters of Selma can remind us all of the struggles African Americans endured for their right to "VOTE" and encourage people to get to the polls on November 6th! A Man Named Pearl is a wonderful film of determination I know everyone will enjoy! Both films are free and open to the public. Doors open at 530 p.m.
Blk-Art, History & Culture has been busy making the rounds and attending lot's of meetings. Many seeds have been planted and I will tend to this very special garden with tender loving care! My seasonal gig is up which has allowed me more time to do the work Blk-Art, History & Culture needs in order to grow. The writing, the following up, the meetings, the phone calls and e mails feed my soul. Exploring every opportunity is busy work, but when things pan out it is all worth it.
As I teach an after school program, for Pathways to College this fall, I get the use of the campus fitness center! I am thrilled about this news. Since leaving Cardinal Fitness, it's been a struggle to workout. I've looked at a few gyms, but being right on campus makes it so much more convenient to get the workout in. Yes, I need it too. I've been walking in the park and doing some ab work, but hey, I need to be in the gym!
Still enjoying the Gallery and have celebrated my 1 year anniversary. Time flies when your having fun! I got 2 tickets to see the Documentary film Dark Girls, attended the lecture and the reception. Very well done and Thank you Marcus Center for the Anniversary gift. Took my mom and some family on a drive to Manitowoc to see the fall colors, it was truly beautiful and mother loved it! Made her day. So glad I had the time to share with my family.
I've got to move around, but before I go, please be sure to vote on November 6th. Your vote will make a difference. It's fall and getting colder, please be kind to the homeless, donate to the shelters, check on your elderly neighbors and be artful! Enjoy your blessings.
