This is a photo of some of the Pathway students enjoying the Harlem Renaissance Mural by Artist, Paul Edward Davis. Thanks "Eddie" for coming out and talking my students. Based on the final exam I gave the students, it appears they did learn something in the workshop and Ms. J. is pleased. The film screening of More Than A Month turned out very nicely, in spite of technical difficulties. We had an interesting panel discussion to say the least. A Man Named Pearl is our 2nd film and I will keep you posted on the screening date.
As we move through the remainder of summer, I am working hard to stay positive. I am facing some challenging times and "Keeping the Faith" is my #1 job right now. I know this shall this pass just as all the other difficult times have. so for now I will focus on my blessings. Way to many to list. My health has been fully restored, which is a huge blessing and has enabled me to do all that I've done this summer. My support team has been amazing and I am blessed to have them in my corner!
Blk-Art, History & Culture had an amazing time volunteering for the Community Arts & Funk Festival booth at African World Festival, August 4th & 5th. I got a chance to check out the Market Place and got some fabulous Cowrie shell bracelets, some shea butter, 2 Barack Obama 2012 buttons and a Soul Sista T-shirt, LOVE it!!!!!! "Happy Birthday" to myself. I also got to check out Boney James and he was sounding good! Blk-Art, History & Culture also volunteered for the Washington Park Arts & Culture Day organized by the Community Arts & Funk Festival. OOOPS, it rained, but was still enjoyable, plus we needed the rain.
I've been really busy this summer, just finished working the Gallery all weekend for the "Morning Glory" arts and craft fair, very nice. Now I have a few days to get some things around the teeny tiny upgraded/downsized apartment done and to do some follow up for the Blk-Art, History & Culture Fall schedule. Good things are taking shape. We just need to be patient and to keep the faith.
So stay positive, count your blessings, check on your elderly neighbors, give to the homeless, volunteer and enjoy the rest of the summer. Don't forget to vote on the 14th. Yes, I'll be gearing up to knock on doors for organizing for America to help out President Barack Obama-yes 4 more years. One of the buttons I bought say "Let's Stay Together," I agree. Peace & Love.
