Moving Forward

Summer is here and it is one hot summer!!!!! It's been about 6 months since I moved into my down sized upgraded spot and I am loving it.  This spot will always have special meaning for me.  So much changed during  this time.
The photo is just one window of the Blk-Art, History & Culture- Black Cinema display at the Washington Park Library ( up until 7/31).  This window highlights African American "Oscar Winners." The Blk-Art, History & Culture collaboration with the Washington Park Library (2121 N. Sherman blvd.) for the screening of the Documentary Film More Than A Month, is just a week away, July 25th @ 5:30 pm.  Free and open to the public. I love this film so much I have to share it!!! Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen.
I am back with Pathways to College this summer for their Summer Program. I am having a great time with the kids doing what I love to do.  We will be out and about visiting murals by artist, Brad Anthony Bernard and Paul Edward Davis. Both artists have agreed to take time out of their very busy schedules to join the students for a Q&A session.  This, is cool kids.  Ms. J (me) is having a great time.
I am no longer at the "gym."  The gym went sour with the new owner/management style.  It wasn't an organization I wanted to be associated with.  I loved working for Cardinal Fitness for 4 years.  I enjoyed teaching my ab class and working out and the members.  It was time to move on.  Negative energy-NO-Positive energy-YES.  So I chose Positive.  That time and energy has gone right into Blk-Art History & Culture.  Now I must say, I do miss working out.  I've been doing ALOT of walking, but on some days it was just to freaking "HOT" to be outside walking.  Some days it was 89 or 90 degrees at 7 am. But hey,  Right now I am going to enjoy the summer.I will have "Esta" in a gym working out before fall is over!
Blk-Art, History & Culture is making new contacts.  I'm still working the Gallery, which I really enjoy.  I'm doing my 7th seasonal gig with the Milwaukee Brewers.  Rickie Weeks is struggling and the fans are so supportive. He finally hit a home run the other night and the fans loved it!.  I even signed up for a couple of classes to sharpen my technical skills.
I still miss Ebony, but I am thankful she doesn't have to deal with these heat waves! This would have been tough on her.
Gotta birthday coming up soon.  Life is good. Appreciate your blessings.  check on your elderly neighbors and be kind to the homeless & less fortunate.
