"Historical Icons"

Okay, It's been a minute since I last updated the post.  It's been a very busy time. I had some medical issues and had to be on bed-rest and off of work.  It's a long story, but I am recovering and back to work.

The Collage I've posted "Historical Icons" is the Collage I used during the Black Knowledge Bowl (BKB4).   Working with The Manpower Group and SDC was a very rewarding experience for Blk-Art, History & Culture.  I met a lot of wonderful people, learned a lot and got to work with some of the most talented kids in the city.  I feel very strongly that the historical collage making process and the information stations exposed these kids to historical information in a new and exciting format. You should have seen them assembling their collages.  I was so proud of them!

I am looking forward to working with the "Pathways to College" summer program again this year.  I have a lot I want to share with this group-who I worked with last summer, reading Sharon Draper's "Copper Sun"I am also collaborating with the Milwaukee Public Library to present the first ever "Black Cinema Series."  I'll be doing a "Black Cinema" installation as well to compliment the film series.  We are working hard on the viewing rights and would love to present the series this summer.  Of course I will keep you posted.  I am super excited about the 5 films I've selected.

The Gym is yet again going through another transformation. We shall see how this pans out.  I am fine with it no matter what happens.  While I am in recovery, I've been doing a lot of walking in my new neighborhood.  I totally love this area and my new little African Hut.  I am feeling at home and settled.  Getting to know some of the neighbors and what the neighborhood has to offer.  I love it!  I am still trying to get a couple workouts in, but low impact and only 30 minutes with a little weight training.  Trying to get all the health benefits exercise has to offer.  At forty-something it's taking the body a bit longer to bounce back, but I am grateful not to have been hospitalized.  After a few days rest I could tell my body needed it. My entire family has been totally awesome during the recovery mode and I love them dearly! Thanks Guys, yep, you too Bradster!

We've been having some absolutely beautiful weather!!!! I'll be getting started on the yard I do every year.  I believe this is year 5 and it is becoming pretty low maintenance needing only some weeding, fresh mulch and some flower pots. We'll be doing a large yard sculpture this year.  Life is good, I am blessed and happy.  I do still miss Ms. Ebony very much, but let me tell ya, Tucker gives me so puppy love and has kept me company during some of my walks, he is a joy. I am going to pick some beautiful white Ponies for my lovely elderly neighbor form my old neighborhood, she loves them and is not able to get out and do it so I'll do it for her.  It is good and healing for us both! Count your blessings and enjoy this life!
