The African Hut

This is turning out to be one of my favorite spots in my new little African Hut. Like I said, it's small, but loaded with "Charm." This is a built in dresser with this little ledge perfect for these little guys! Pefecto.
The Black Knowledge Bowl is in less than 2 weeks and I am pretty excited about my participation. I've been working on another collage specifically for this event. I will share it with you after the knowledge bowl. I am sorry to say that I am unable to share a link for the article, but I have received a lot of positive feed back. I tried to go to www.washingtonparkbeat.com to look it up, but it wasn't posted yet. I've attended the pre-season meeting for my Seasonal job and will be back to work in about 3 weeks.
The weather has been absolutely beautiful! I hope it's not a joke. I want to share a beautiful deed someone did for me. It was such a beautiful jester it can not go unmentioned. At the gym I work at there is an older gentleman whom I talk with on a regular basis. He went to see the "Black History Month" display @ the Washington Park Library. He said "wow, that's a lot of stuff. It was nice of the library to loan you some of that stuff." I said "no Bob, it's all my stuff. I am trying to build a African American Resource Library." Well Bob volunteers at the main library and he earns points for his volunteer work. He's been working there for years and has accumulated so many points he doesn't know what to do with them. You can purchase books, movies and music with the points from the use book store on the lower level and Bob shared his points with me. I was like a kid in candy shop! Thanks Bob! I got some really, really, really good stuff!!!!! The materials I got with the points will super enhance the information stations for the knowledge bowl and future workshops. I am so thrilled and appreciative. And then another library hook up. After doing the readings for the library's "Black History Month Read-Ins" a Librarian gave me a Harlem Renaissance poster, some African fabric and an African instrument! So even though I do the readings and displays for free (I get pure pleasure from doing it) I have received rewards beyond measure, both jesters are priceless to me.
I am blessed and happy. Getting my puppy love from "Tucker" he is soooooo cute. Yes I stillmiss my Ebony (that's her in the doggy bone shaped picture frame in the photo). It still aches sometimes, but I am forging ahead.
Stay positive, keep your head up, smile and make someones day! Enjoy your blessings. It's so beautiful today I am going for a walk!
