Here is a photo from the "Slam Dunk" with some of the children I wasn't able to post with the other photos.
It's been a couple of weeks now since schools been out and I've been done teaching "Life Skills" for Pathways to College. I've been super busy! I've moved from the Downsized African Hut to another location close bye, with more room. It's just a bigger African Hut. It's been about 5 weeks now. I am settling in and getting ready for a Blk-Art. history & culture "OPEN HOUSE" on Friday, June 6th from 430 to 830 pm. We had a beautiful Newsletter done and if you'd like a newsletter or would like to attend the open house please e mail me at blkart2005@aol.com.
I am so glad summer is here! Finally! I've been pretty adamant about hitting the gym and am down 8 pounds. It's been a struggle shedding them the older I get. I'd really like to shed 8 more! Seriously. I ended up with a "B" in my Theology class. This was a tough semester for me. I'm enrolled for next semester and am hoping it goes better.
Went to see the new movie "Belle." It was done very well. By the same screenwriter who wrote the screenplay for Zora Neal Hurston's "Their Eyes Were Watching God." "Belle" was full of historical content and a very good history lesson. This film will definitely make it into the Blk-Art, history & culture library. As for my own film series, next up for Wednesday June 25th is "Sacred Justice: The 1968 Orangeburg Massacre" as always, the doors open at 530 pm. 2121 N. Sherman Blvd. "The Washington Park Library." Looking forward to the Pathways Summer Academy and the lecture for Artworks for Milwaukee in July. In August off to Minneapolis with an artist to work a festival. Trying to keep my schedule light this summer as I have a project that needs a lot of my attention if it's going to pan out next summer.
I've had a couple of personal struggles to deal with that have left me weary emotionally, but I thank GOD for his guidance. I also want to acknowledge the passing of Dr. Maya Angelou, may she rest in peace. It is very sad when we loose someone of her stater.
In the mean time people, please be kind to one another, be honest with yourself and others, especially with those you say you love and care about.
