4 More Years!

Seeing that the Inauguration is just around the corner, I think it's appropriate to share an Obama image!
But first let me wish everyone a very "Happy New Year" I unfortunately missed a step, fell and broke my arm coming from a wonderful Kwanzaa Celebration at the African American Women's Center.  Yes it was very painful, but I am amazed at how quickly I am recovering and using my arm.  I am not able to hit the gym for another couple of weeks which does not make me happy, but the blessing in all this is that it was my left arm and not my right arm, I am right handed. I am also thankful that it wasn't my leg!!!!
I am moving forward and not letting it get me down.  I am still working the Gallery and teaching my class, updating the Blk-Art, History & Culture Page, which I love doing.  If you want to join the Blk-Art, History & Culture page, please send a friend request to Jody Alexander on facebook.
There has been some absolutely wonderful Cultural enrichment programing on PBS/MPTV Channel 10/36.  Much of it will air again so check your local listings for the Abolitionist, Soul Food Junkies & Obama, Inside the First Four Years of the Obama Presidency. I must admit I've been tuning in to Downton Abby as well.
We all know I try to take a 30 day sabbatical from the daily grind every January to get myself together, so being able to enjoy some quality programing during this process has been wonderful.  Because I am teaching and have broken my arm, it's been a little difficult to go completely underground this year. I teach in the evenings and have been to the doctor about this arm a number of times, and now have therapy.  I've also been tying up loose ends for the February "Black History Month" programing Blk-Art, History & Culture will be doing.  #1) Blk-Art, History & Culture will be screening "Sisters of Selma along with the Traveling Exhibition Sisters of Freedom again at the MLK Library on February 4th.  The doors open at 530 pm. 310 West Locust Street. Again this program is free and open to the public. #2) Blk-Art, History & Culture will be doing a "FREE" after school program Adventures in African American Art  at the Washington Park Library February 18 - 22 from 5 to 6 pm. 2121 North Sherman Blvd. This program uses the art of African American Artists who have documented historical turning points of African American history.  It teaches history while introducing an appreciation of art. #3) Blk-Art, History & Culture will again do the display case for "Black History Month" at the Washington Park Library with a tribute to the 1970's! Please stop bye and check it out February 1st to the 28th.
There are still some things in the planning stages and I am happy to report that it looks good and I am excited.
Finally,  enjoy your blessings and be a blessing to someone! Check on your elderly neighbors, be kind to the homeless and volunteer! Stay Artful!!!!!
