I see we finally got some snow! And guess what? I am so glad I don't have to be out there shoveling!!!!! Yes, that's right, I am all moved into my new cozy, little, African Hut! I may have given up some amenities, but I've also unloaded a lot of extra responsibilities and shoveling was one of them! The new spot is small, but huge on personality & charm. I love the quaint, little neighborhood. I am getting settled in and so thankful the weather cooperated. It had to be around 40 degrees on moving day and the moving team worked like champs. Everything went smoothly and nothing got broke!
I do miss my routine of walking Ebony, but with this latest snowfall realize she would have been struggling to get around and in pain. You rest in peace baby girl, mommy will always be thinking of you.
I've been blessed to be doing another Blk-Art, History & Culture Workshop. My biggest concern with the workshops is exposing the children to the materials and wanting them to get something out of it. I know I can't reach every single child, but I try and I will keep trying. I am also preparing for the "Black History Month" display at the Washington Park Library. I am very excited about doing this. And I've been asked to write an article for the Washington Park Beat community newspaper. I am excited about this as well and still have received yet another opportunity for the Blk-Art, History & Culture Workshops, but don't have all the details yet to share. I will keep you posted.
In the mist of all this busyness I have miss quite a few workouts. I am trying to incorporate "The Art Of Change" as I make the transition. I will be hitting the gym shortly for a workout and getting back on track. I am happy to report that we've kept the weight down over the holiday season, including that wedding reception I went to. Yes I had a piece of wedding cake!
Christmas was beautiful, Santa still loves me and New Years Eve was a beautiful evening as well. Things are going well at the Gallery (got tickets to see the Blueman Group), and at the gym. The Workshops are coming along, I'm moved (downsized) and the personal opportunties are keeping my spirits lifted.
I am grateful for all these blessings and I am going to keep working "The Art Of Change." I've been a bit relunctant, but realize with the new year it was an opportunity for reinvention and to move on. Change can be good! Happy New Year people. Count your blessings and please be kind! Check on your elderly neighbors and lookout for the homeless, this is the perfect time to donate hats and gloves and sweaters and blankets and yes, food too, to area shelters .
