Let's go people. We've got 9 days to go. I was watching a dvd about the 2008 election of President Barack Obama, it was amazing to see how the country was so fired up and ready to go. It's been challenging to get people that fired up again for the 2010 vote, let me tell ya. The Literature Drops have been going pretty well and the weather has been fantastic. In most cases people are very polite. Not fired up. Some a little snippy, or impatient. I've got one more lit drop next weekend and will be doing my best to fire some folks up. The person I canvassed with this weekend said "You not only ring the doorbell, you're knocking on the doors too" I said "Absolutely! If you talk face to face with the person, they're more likely to read the lit and hit the polls, than if you just drop the literature. I am not out here just to be cluttering up peoples doorways with paper! I need these people to go and vote!"
Just a little more prepping before we can actually start assembling the "Obama" collage. I am very, very excited. I've been very busy since the seasonal job ended one month ago and my schedule continues to be busy, but it's all good. I've been able to hit the gym a bit more often and the Ab/Core class is picking up again. I've got a few volunteer commitments, plus I'm trying to create some opportunities to indulge in some of my "Passions." I worked hard this season so I am hoping to be rewarded with the luxury of indulging my passions!
I am looking forward to the holiday season. Not the commercialism, but the true joy & beauty of the season. By the time you're "forty-something" hopefully you've got this. Christmas is just 8 weeks away. In the mean time people, please, please, please take the time to vote on November 2nd, just 9 days away. Whatever the outcome, (republicans could take over Capital Hill) we will be alright.
Take the time to enjoy your blessings and think about how you want to spend your holidays. Do you want to be in the crowded stores, rushing from here to there, stressing over this and that or do you want to be surrounded by the people you love, all chipping in to make this an emotionally satisfying and meaningful holiday season? Give to a charity instead of buying gifts. Have a Potluck instead of trying to do it all yourself. Cut your Christmas card list in half, yes you can do this! Bottom line, if it's to stressful, don't do it! Peace Out! Let that be your gift to yourself!
